Ipark (formerly the Rogaland Science Park) is located in Stavanger and forms part of the knowledge community concentrated in the city’s Ullandhaug campus. Important partners there include the International Research Institute of Stavanger (IRIS) and the University of Stavanger (UiS).
Our job is to help to turn ideas into start-up companies faster and more securely. By delivering developmental power to innovative enterprises in an early growth phase, we can contribute to entrepreneurship and value creation based on good concepts, research results, and advanced products and services.
We want your idea to succeed
Ipark brings together good ideas and an active commercial and R&D milieu around the same table. Here you can meet committed company founders burning with enthusiasm for their concepts. The only goal of our able advisers is to refine new business ideas and turn them into profitable enterprises.
This assistance is provided all the way from the initial phase, when an idea has just emerged, through the start-up and development stages and on into the follow-up phase. We offer you and your concept an arena where players from the R&D community, entrepreneurs, industry, investors and advisers meet and collaborate.
Incubator - a good place to start
Ipark’s incubator department is responsible for helping to hatch out new commercial ideas and bring them into profitable operation. It offers support in the early phase as well as the further development of your company. You can also get help here with the very important job of securing capital and your first customers, as well as partners and alliances to develop the potential of your company.
The Ipark incubator is located in a separate building on the site, which houses roughly 40 offices with associated common areas and meeting rooms.
Start-ups here originate with:
- university graduates
- university/university college researchers
- companies looking for spin-offs
- individual entrepreneurs
- inventors
- people who want to develop an idea from their present workplace.
Ideas from research
Exciting research-based ideas get special follow-up at a very early stage in the process through the Prekubator TTO. Owned by UiS, IRIS, the Stavanger University Hospital, Norconserve and Ipark, this regional technology transfer office is a neutral body for commercialising research ideas with a commercial potential, which are administered, developed and strengthened here.
Prekubator has followed a number of successful companies with clear market opportunities from the first outline all the way to market launch. It will provide you with a thorough professional and market assessment.
The office works closely with research teams which develop groundbreaking technologies and methods with a big potential, and helps to turn these into commercial products and services. Prekubator is responsible for the FORNY programme, and contributes concept development, patent protection, market assessment, technology verification, financing and the formation of founder teams.
Where would you most like to be?
When your company moves in with us, it will be joining roughly 140 other enterprises with more than 650 employees in all. We are not only there to help start-ups grow and prosper, but also a substantial property developer and manager. This allows us to offer you and your company modern premises and surroundings.
All our offices meet good quality standards, whether intended for occupation by one person or 100. We aim to offer you more space as your company grows.
Although a wide variety of industries, products and people are found in our premises, they have a lot in common – not least a burning desire to succeed. Our tenants represent a colourful and vibrant community in every respect. Something is always happening here. The synergies created when many different milieus come together are of inestimable importance.
Our part of the Ullandhaug campus has plenty of space. We are erecting new buildings, and would be happy to facilitate the creation of more industrial clusters. A new centre for industrial gastronomics, for instance, is due to bring together much of the region’s expertise in this area when completed in 2009.
Ipark aims to create efficient and enjoyable working conditions. Our focus is on quality, and we ensure that our premises are well managed and maintained. We help you to identify what your company needs – how much space it requires, for instance, or whether you and your colleagues want cellular or open-plan offices.
